Leidy Cardona, a passionate baker who began crafting cakes at home in 2018, turned her dream into reality with the opening of her bakery, Leidylicious Cakes. In September 2022, she was referred to the Pace SBDC by Margarita Gaitan from the Colombian Consulate. From then on, Business Advisor Sandra Cely supported Leidy with resources, tools, and guidance to meet the requirements for opening her store.

Sandra helped Leidy develop financial projections, promote her business on social media, and design an online landing page with the assistance of Business Advisor Joe Peterson. Leidy’s strong presence as a social media influencer in the Hispanic community also facilitated workshops in Spanish, further connecting her with her audience.

In January 2023, Leidy found the perfect location in Forest Hills, Queens. Sandra connected her with the NYC Business Express Service Team to navigate permits, licenses, and compliance rules. With their support, Leidy secured $203,300 in equity, which was instrumental in launching her bakery.

Leidylicious Cakes’ grand opening was a celebrated event, attended by NYC Mayor Eric Adams, NYC Commissioner of Small Business Kevin Kim, and other community leaders. This milestone not only marked the fulfillment of Leidy’s entrepreneurial dream but also highlighted her dedication and the collaborative effort of the Pace SBDC.

Leidylicious Cakes is now a thriving business, providing exquisite cakes to the community and demonstrating the power of perseverance and support in achieving business success.
